Entdeckt wurde diese eigenwillig blühende Rose 1934 am Lago Maggiore; "Mutabilis" stammt jedoch vermutlich aus China. Die einfachen, großen Schalenblüten zeigen je nach Blühstadium gelbe, rosa bis orange farbene Blüten.
