Here you will find climbing historical roses, if you want the historical charm to unfold also in the heights. Most historical climbing roses have an intense fragrance and the flowers range from simple to highly double. Note that the branches must be supported by climbing aids to allow the rose to reach its full height. Historic Climbing Roses work especially well on rose arches, where they can fully develop their characteristic accents.
The horizontal guidance of side shoots encourages climbing roses to produce more flowers, which is also the beauty of historical climbing roses. The location should provide plenty of sunlight to allow the roses to grow optimally. Even with historical climbing roses, care should be taken to cut them moderately if they are to grow high up. Sometimes heights of more than 6 m can be covered (e.g. Mrs. Gregoire Staechelin).
