English Roses are basically not a recognized rose class. However, since they are widely distributed and have found many enthusiasts, the term is colloquially used as rose class. English Roses is originally associated with the breeder David C.H. Austin who crossed Old Roses with modern tea hybrids and shaped the image of English Roses. Meanwhile there are more and more breeders who are introducing varieties in this category.
Characteristic for English Roses are the mostly highly double and fragrant flowers, which enchant the lover. Unfortunately, however, they also require appropriate care to keep them healthy. It's hard to get everything - highly double, highly fragrant flowers on the one hand and a robust and healthy plant on the other. Nevertheless, English Roses are very popular because they have the charm of the Historic Roses.
